Playbit software does not track what users do.
Sign-in and instances
When a user signs in to a Playbit installation, that installation is assigned a random identifier called an instance key. The instance key is used to re-establish authentication for that installation.
In practice, the instance key is a cryptographic key. The private key never leaves the user's computer. After successful authentication, Playbit servers store the public instance key and generate an instance certificate for it. The instance certificate is signed by the Playbit certificate authority.
Data stored on Playbit servers
The only user data stored on Playbit servers is:
- email address
- computer name, to help with revocation so the user can tell which installation is which
- public instance key
- instance certificate
- date and time of account creation
- date and time of last authentication or sign-in
